Our History
2013
CDL Group was founded by Edward Cadenne de Lannoy after identifying a clear gap in the market when BS EN ISO 1090 became mandatory. At the time, many businesses were struggling to understand the requirements surrounding weld testing, certification, and compliance.
Determined to provide a better solution, Edward built CDL Group around a simple principle: combining technical expertise with practical, hands-on support. The goal was to make compliance straightforward and accessible while helping organisations achieve certification with confidence.
Today, that same commitment remains at the heart of everything we do. We continue to support businesses with trusted certification, inspection, testing, and technical services, helping them meet industry requirements and achieve long-term success.
2014
A significant milestone in CDL Group’s journey was becoming an ISO 17021 Conformity Assessment Body through Qualitas Veritas.
This expansion allowed us to offer certification services against internationally recognised standards, including ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety), and ISO 27001 (Information Security Management).
By broadening our certification capabilities, we strengthened our ability to provide a complete compliance solution, supporting clients throughout their certification journey from implementation through to ongoing assessment and continual improvement.
2015-2017
As demand for our services continued to grow, CDL Group expanded its presence by opening two new regional offices and growing the team to seven full-time employees.
This period of growth strengthened our technical expertise, increased our capacity, and enabled us to provide an even higher level of support to our expanding customer base across the UK.
2018
As demand for our services continued to increase, CDL Group opened its first overseas facility in Ireland.
This marked an important step in our growth journey, allowing us to better support our expanding customer base while extending our reach beyond the UK for the first time.
2019
CDL Group continued to expand its capabilities in 2019 through a partnership with Bipol, a leading French manufacturer of industrial inspection equipment.
Becoming the sole UK distributor for Bipol’s products allowed us to offer customers access to advanced inspection technologies, including videoscopes and endoscopes. This strengthened our technical offering and further enhanced our ability to support clients with innovative inspection solutions.
2023-2025
As part of our commitment to continually improving our services, CDL Group invested in the development of its first in-house laboratory at our headquarters in Mid Wales.
By bringing testing capabilities in-house, we were able to reduce reliance on external laboratories, improve turnaround times, and provide even greater value to our customers through a more efficient and responsive service.
This period of growth culminated in June 2025 when our laboratory achieved UKAS accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025. This achievement recognised the technical competence and quality of our laboratory services and established CDL Group as the only provider of its kind in Wales.
The accreditation marked a major milestone in our journey and further strengthened our position as a trusted provider of testing, inspection, certification, and compliance services.
2026
2026 marked a significant year of growth for CDL Group as we expanded our capabilities through the acquisition of WeldEng Consultants Ltd and Ultraflux NDT.
These acquisitions strengthened our expertise across welding engineering, non-destructive testing (NDT), inspection, compliance, certification, and technical services. They also brought highly experienced professionals into the business, further enhancing the knowledge and support available to our customers.
Building on long-standing industry relationships and a shared commitment to quality, these additions reinforced CDL Group’s position as a leading provider of testing, inspection, certification, and compliance services throughout the UK and Ireland.
As we continue to grow, our focus remains the same: delivering expert guidance, exceptional service, and practical solutions that help our customers succeed.
